Gallery Tanakaya
France, Paris
Created in 1988 in Paris by Tamio Ikeda, Gallery Tanakaya specialises in original Japanese prints and antiques dating from the 16th to the 20th century. The gallery has taken part in BRAFA since it set up at the Tour & Taxis site in 2004. The gallery has exhibited at TEFAF in Maastricht since 2010. Its clients include a number of European and other international museums. Each year, the gallery publishes at least one catalogue mainly dedicated to Ukiyo-e and Shin-Hanga prints, of which it is a recognised specialist. It regularly presents original works by artists such as Hokusai, Utamaro, Hiroshige, Yoshida, Gôyô, Kotondo and Hasui. The gallery is also devoted to the works of modern Japanese painters, notably some who lived and worked in Paris in the years 1950-60, such as Sugaï Kumi and Sato Key.
