Kálmán Makláry Fine Arts

Hungary, Budapest

The Kálmán Makláry Fine Arts Gallery is dedicated to the artists of the Post-War School of Paris, focusing in particular on the Abstract and Surrealist movements with artists such as Judit Reigl, Simon Hantai, François Fiedler, Alfred Reth, Endre Rozsda and Victor Vasarely. Through its exhibitions outside the Budapest-based gallery and its publications of books and catalogues, it strives to bring unquestionably important artists who have slipped from public consciousness over recent decades back into view. The gallery works with museums and art collectors, developing long-term relationships of trust. Today, some of the gallery’s artists have found their rightful place in major modern art museums around the world. The gallery also handles and represents work by Gustave Miklos, Joseph Csaky, Etienne Beöthy, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Paul Kallos, Geza Szobel, Etienne Sandorfi and Tibor Csernus. Their other focus is contemporary art, more specifically Hungarian artists such as Sam Havadtoy, Kamill Major, Isaac Silard, Marta Kucsora and Gábor M. Szőke and Korean artists such as Hur Kyung-Ae, Ilhwa Kim, Suh Jeong-Min and Lim Dong-Lak.
