Grusenmeyer-Woliner
Belgium, Brussels
Founded in Brussels in 1980 and known today as Grusenmeyer-Woliner, the gallery is led by Karim Grusenmeyer and Damien Woliner, two partners from long-established families of art dealers. The gallery enjoys international recognition for its expertise and specialises in sculpture from Asia, Africa and Oceania, as well as classical antiquities. It presents a carefully curated selection of works, chosen for their aesthetic refinement, cultural significance and well-documented provenance. The collection spans a wide range of sculptural traditions, from India and Southeast Asia to Egypt, Rome, Africa and Oceania, alongside important natural history specimens, including dinosaur fossils. Karim Grusenmeyer, who holds a degree in Sinology, specialises in Southeast Asian sculpture and archaeology, a field in which he draws on extensive academic and field experience. Damien Woliner brings deep expertise in the art of Africa and Oceania, classical antiquities and European archaeology. Their complementary fields of expertise form the basis of a rigorous curatorial approach that highlights the richness of world cultures through exceptional works of art. Both are members of ROCAD (the Royal Chamber of Art Dealers), and of the Royal Belgian Chamber of Experts in Works of Art. Karim Grusenmeyer is also a co-founder of 5 Continents Editions, a Milan-based publishing house specialising in art books.
