A pair of George II walnut library armchairs.  Judge Irwin Untermyer assembled one of the most important collections of English furniture in New York in the 20th century. Almost the entire collection was bequeathed to the Metropolitan Museum in New York, where it formed an important part of the museum’s collection of English furniture. Some of the items have since been released from the Metropolitan Museum and other museums.
