The tortoiseshell veneered box is of rectangular form on a wooden carcass; the inside of the box is painted in red. The bevelled cover and body with inlaid mother-of-pearl florets, diamond, circular and star-shaped rosettes with animals including birds and dogs throughout. On the front of the box, a double-headed eagle is depicted with a crown above flanked by a lion and a unicorn.
