ADOLF LOOS
FRIEDRICH OTTO SCHMIDT/JOHANNES HEEG attr.
CHANDELIER
designed by: Adolf Loos
executed by: Johannes Heeg attr., for F. O. Schmidt, model no. 1446
The archives of F. O. Schmidt company contain an original photo of a lamp with the model number 1446. The glass holders of our lamp show curved hypotenuses rather than the straight ones of that model. Probably for that reason, the glass was not facetted. The reduced design and the notable transparency of this lamp convey a close affinity to the clocks designed by Loos. His clocks and ceiling lamps were often executed by Johannes Heeg, a Viennese master craftsman in metal.
