Erasmus Hornick was born in Antwerp around 1527 but worked as a silversmith in Nuremberg and Augsburg between 1555 and 1582. He died in Prague in 1583.
During his lifetime, he became an important designer for jewelry and silverware. The largest collection of his drawings can be found at the V&A Museum in London, others are kept at the Bayerisches Staatsbibliothek in Munich and at the Staatsbibliothek in Berlin.
