Large Gallé suspension with Bordeaux roses, Art Nouveau

An important "pâte de verre" suspension by Emile Gallé (1846-1904) in the form of a circular, curved bowl of multi-layered glass with acid-etched decoration and ground decoration. Superb decoration of Bordeaux red roses in full bloom and buds on an opaque background shaded in light yellow. Three chains held by bronze hooks and a bronze ram cover repeat the plant motifs of this Art Nouveau suspension. The lighting brings out shades of red and yellow comparable to a sunset. Signed Gallé
