Abstract and colorful, this lithograph represents Miró’s artistic versatility. Titled  Sobreteixims i escultures , it directly translates to “Textiles and Sculptures” in English. Striking shades of yellow, red and green surround a darkly lined form. Looking closer, viewers can imagine the figure as a bulbous animal, its horns upright as it stops to gaze at the audience.  Overall, Miró’s devotion to printmaking and lithographs allowed him to work together with printers and textile designers. Hence, the title of the work could be a homage to these important relationships Miró maintained until the end of his life.

Created in 1972, this color lithograph on Guarro is hand signed by Joan Miró (Barcelona, 1893 - Palma, 1983) in pencil in the lower right. This work is numbered from the edition of 150 in pencil in the lower left; published by Sala Gaspar, Barcelona.
