BERTOLD LÖFFLER

Painter and graphic artist, co-founder of “Wiener Keramik” (Vienna Ceramics)
A student of Franz Matsch and Koloman Moser, Löffler was a professor at the School of Arts and Crafts from 1909 on. He taught such important artists as Kalvach and Kokoschka. In 1905, he founded “Wiener Keramik” (Vienna Ceramics) together with Michael Powolny. They produced objects for the Wiener Werkstätte, founded by Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser. Löffler also arranged several important exhibitions. Thematically, his work is inspired by the world
of fantasy, dwarf figures in particular. From 1921, he was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus.
