In 1823, Josef Lobmeyr founded the company J. & L. Lobmeyr. Led by the Lobmeyr brothers' nephew, Stefan Rath, the company cooperated with Josef Hoffmann, who designed a large number of glasses for Lobmeyr that were inter alia presented at the Kölner Werkbund Exhibition in 1914. The Lobmeyr company also worked with other important artists such as Oswald Haerdtl, Vally Wieselthier, Otto Prutscher, Adolf Loos, Rudolf Marschall and Michael Powolny.
