Galerie Tiago
France, Paris
Established in 2013 in the Carré Rive Gauche, Paris. The gallery embodies a unique vision of the decorative arts, conceived in the spirit of a cabinet of curiosities: a showcase the centuries. The gallery is exploring a broad chronological span, from the Momoyama period to contemporary art, with a focus on Namban, Edo and Meiji periods – historical hinge moment in Japan’s artistic and cultural history. Our selection is binded to lacquer ware to wich gorgeous pieces are added for their rarity provenance and aesthetic. Beside their cultural value, these masterpieces have been arranged together for their stories: the sophistication of the craftsmanship, the enduring nature of tradition, and the exchanges and influences that have shaped the history of Japanese art. The soul of the gallery lies in this quest for the exceptional and the unexpected. Each work is viewed as a discovery: sometimes prized for its virtuosity, sometimes fascinating for its unique character, and always selected for the intimate connection it shares with its era. A collection conceived as a journey through the centuries, where the beauty meets the joy of discovery and where each item becomes a view on to Japan. The gallery will be participating BRAFA for the first time.
