Paul Ruitenbeek, who was born and raised in Amsterdam, grew up with Chinese art. With a mother as a former auction house department head and a father as a museum curator, he became fascinated with Chinese art objects at an early age. After his studies and three years of working in Beijing, he worked with his mother in the Chinese art field for a period of five years. During this time, they travelled the world looking to source high quality objects for their private clients.
Since 2019 Paul Ruitenbeek works as an independent dealer specialising in Chinese ceramics and works of art with a specific focus on early ceramics, Ming and Qing dynasty porcelain, scholarly objects and snuff bottles. The focus is on working with the collector – sharing knowledge and passion in order to start or build on a collection with both aesthetic and academic significance.
Paul Ruitenbeek participates in annual art fairs, curates special exhibitions and organises bespoke courses and art handling sessions. Services include valuation of individual pieces or collections for any purpose, advice on collecting, advice on restoring damaged pieces, cataloging collections, commission bidding at auctions and selling individual pieces or collections.
Paul Ruitenbeek Chinese Art is a member of the Royal Association of Fine Art Dealers in the Netherlands.
