Felicità d'Invenzione: Drawings by Guercino

Stephen Ongpin Fine Art is pleased to present its forthcoming exhibition Felicità d’Invenzione: Drawings by Guercino, opening on the 24th of June to coincide with London Art Week. Five years in the making and showcasing nearly thirty works by Guercino, this exhibition will include drawings in pen, ink, charcoal, red and black chalk, highlighting the artist’s versatility as a draughtsman and his skill across different mediums. The show will encompass every stage of Guercino’s long career, with drawings dating from the 1610s to the 1660s, and will include numerous studies for paintings as well as independent drawings such as landscapes, academies and head studies, many of which have not previously been exhibited or published. The exhibition will be accompanied by a fully illustrated, scholarly catalogue, with essays on his drawings and the history of collecting.
