Provenance: Almost certainly from room g 25 from the North-west palace of Ashurnasirpal II at Nimrud.
In the Private Collection of Colonel Norman Colville (1893–1974), Cornwall.
(There is an entry in the Western Asiatic Department’s deposit book at the British Museum written on 29 March.
1939 stating that Mrs Colville left “three fragments of stelae for opinion”, which may refer to this one.)
Thence by descent (accompanied by inventory valuation by Sotheby’s from 1976 which references this fragment).
