AN IRISH GEORGE III MARBLE CHIMNEYPIECE ATTRIBUTED TO GEORGE AND HILL DARLEY

An Irish George III white statuary and brocatello marble chimneypiece attributed to George and Hill Darley.  George and Hill Darley were Dublin stone-cutters. The two brothers, partners in a long established family business that lasted from the 1660s until well into the 19th century, were responsible for a number of designs for chimneypieces, some of which are preserved in the Royal Irish Academy, Dublin. The west front of Trinity College Dublin was built by the Darley family.
