Didier Claes is an expert in African art, with a particular specialisation in works from Central Africa. Founded in 2002, his Brussels-based gallery has rapidly established itself as a privileged venue for the presentation of objects of exceptional quality from major Western collections. Since the early 2000s, Didier Claes has made a name for himself on the international scene by taking part in numerous art fairs, where he exhibits carefully chosen selections. He has also produced a number of landmark projects, including the exhibitions Mestach l'Africain in 2007 and Congo Mythical Masks in 2009 in Brussels, as well as Arts d'Afrique. Voir l'invisible at the Musée d'Aquitaine in Bordeaux in 2011, and Uzuri wa Dunia at the Ancienne Nonciature in Brussels. Committed to promoting African art, Didier Claes has contributed to the publication of reference works such as Empreintes d'Afrique: l'art tribal au fil des fleuves (2011, Éditions 5 continents) and Passion Partagée (2023, Éditions Fonds).
