The twenty spiraled segments centred by a plain circular roundel within a ribbed rim. Light hammered decoration.
This type of spiraled salvers are particulalry rare within the group of surviving pieces of this period.

The legal obligation to hallmarking silver and gold artifacts is reintroduced in Portugal during the reign of D. Pedro II (Regent 1668-1683 / Reigned 1683-1706), following approximately 100 years of Habsburg Monarchs on the Portuguese throne and the ensuing Independence Wars. This legal requirement was implemented gradually throughout the country, what explains the fact that many pieces of the period do not present either maker or city marks, as is the case with the present salver.
