Literature: This group compares closely to a Virgin and Child group by Balduccio in the Detroit Institute of Art, dated circa 1332-34, (inv. no. 37.140) with similar hands and rasping individual stylisation of the hair. Additionally, the Christ child may also be compared to the facial features of three donors in the relief Presentation Scene with Saint Peter Martyr and Three Donors, circa 1340, in the Cloisters (inv. no. 2001.221)
