A PAIR OF IRISH GEORGE III OVAL MIRROR GIRANDOLES
A PAIR OF IRISH GEORGE III OVAL MIRROR GIRANDOLES
Date 1780
Epoque George III, 18th century
Origine Irish
Medium Glass
Dimension 58.5 x 38 x 15 cm (23 x 15 x 5⁷/₈ inches)
Note: The mirrors retain the original silvered brass candle arms and one of the original mirror plates. One mirror plate is an 18th century replacement.
It is extremely rare to find single candle arms attached to the frame, which is of unusually small scale in this example. Most Irish oval mirrors of this type are considerably larger in scale and either have a suspended half chandelier in front of the mirror or are left without lighting.
