A George I walnut secretaire cabinet the top with a broken arched pediment above a pair of arched beveled and engraved mirror plates, enclosing an arrangement of drawers including a secret drawer, above a pull out slide. The lower section with a secretaire drawer opening to reveal various small drawers and pigeon holes above three graduated long drawers all with engraved brass handles and escutcheons.
Note: The original makers label remains attached to the second long drawer.
The makers William Old and John Ody are recorded from circa 1723 until William Old's death in 1738, at which time his widow conducted a sale of his stock from the St. Paul's Churchyard address denoted in the label.
