An exceptional mid 18th century carved giltwood armchair attributed to Thomas Chippendale, the oval stuffed back with a floral sprig carving to the crest rail, with padded arms with foliate carved downswept supports, the serpentine stuffed seat with a fluted frieze, on turned fluted tapering legs.

A stool and seven side chairs of almost identical form were supplied to Chesterfield House, South Audley Street, London, W.1.
