A rose cut diamond ring decorated with an allegory of love
The pierced bezel is set with a large heart shaped diamond which is pierced by two of Cupid’s arrows, from the top of the heart spouts a flame representing undying love. Above the heart is a floral spray and below is a bow - a form of love knot from which is suspended two tassels. The bezel is extensively decorated with diamonds set in silver, the shank and reverse of the bezel in gold. The ring was likely a token of love symbolising everlasting devotion, or possibly a betrothal ring.
