Boris Aldridge

A panel of double-fired hexagonal lustre tiles by the Dublin-born contemporary British ceramicist Boris Aldridge (1974-). Inspired by Ilkhanid Kashan lustre tiles, Aldridge uses traditional metal oxide techniques to create his dream-like visions of the natural world. Each hand-crafted tile in this panel (45 complete tiles, and 21 partial tiles) features an individual fish against a deep blue ground. Vibrant light blue halos around the fish creates the effect of light penetrating the deep ocean.
