The name Saudj Bulagh, former name of Mahabad near lake Urmyeh, seems to have survived among Iranian carpet dealers when they mention Kurdish rugs from that area.
Dark blue and a warm orange colour are often used for the knotted rugs. The kilims show very refined patterns.
