Date 1765

Period George III

Origin English

The design of this table fits perfectly into the oeuvre of Robert Adam, who worked in the neoclassical style in England in the second half of the 18th century. Sadly no drawing of the design has yet come to light.

Similar side tables from this neoclassical period and designed by Robert Adam adorned well-documented houses all over England, including Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, Syon House in Middlesex, Croome Court in Worcestershire, Osterley Park in Isleworth, Nostell Priory in Yorkshire and Kenwood House and Apsley House, both in London, among many others.

Note: The table has been re-gilt and the legs have been tipped. The colourful sample top is of later date.
