From 1900 onwards, Macassar ebony was occasionally used in Vienna for exceptional pieces of furniture. As the Austro-Hungarian monarchy had no tropical colonies, this wood was very valuable. The processing of such exotic and expensive materials was therefore reserved exclusively for the best cabinetmakers. Despite intensive research, it was unfortunately not possible to identify the designer and/or the craftsman who executed this table.
