Rectangular gold box with rounded corners, hinged lid decorated with foliage on an amatized background. The lid is decorated with a central oval medallion framed by a guilloche of parallel stripes. The medallion presents a composition in hair. A fine frieze of interlacing and stylized fruits standing out on an amati background frames this composition.  The base is decorated with parallel stripes and floral frieze. This snuffbox is characteristic of the objects of feelings of the beginning of the 19th century. Master goldsmith Louis Tronquoy. Restauration, circa 1820-1840.

Louis- François Tronquoy, son of Jean-François Tronquoy and Louise Ferdinande Morin, was born on 20th May 1798 at 639 rue des 4 vents in Paris. On 4th January 1827, he was registered at  8 rue des Prouvaires, probably taking over the business and premises of goldsmith Simon-Achille Léger. Tronquoy continued to work at the same address until 28 June 1871.
