Description & Technical information
A small double-sided pendant carved with a smiling face to either side. Both faces show incised dot tattoo motifs or labret indicators to either side of the mouth which is carved through. The hair is seperated on the brow swept to the sides of the forehead and bundeled into a loop forming the hanger. This is a unique representation of Janus faces and may possibly be an object made as a trinket for the trade in the 19th century.
